Treace Medical Completes First Treatment in MTA3D Adductoplasty Study

Treace Medical Concepts, a firm aiming to shift treatment of hallux valgus (bunions) via Lapiplasty 3D Bunion Correction, has completed treatment of the first patient in its MTA3D Adductoplasty clinical study.
 
The study will assess Adductoplasty procedure outcomes for patients needing bunion and midfoot correction surgery. The study will recruit up to 80 patients at up to 10 U.S. site, and patients will be followed in the study for five years.
 
“Recurrence rates following traditional hallux valgus correction are found to be significantly higher when certain deformities of the midfoot are present.^1,2 With Adductoplasty and Lapiplasty instrumentation, we now have technologies to enable reproducible correction of both the bunion and coexisting midfoot deformities,” Paul D. Dayton, DPM, MS, FACFAS of Foot & Ankle Center of Iowa and co-lead principal investigator told the press.
